Fall 2023 Core Studio I, RISD
Professor: Danniely Staback Rodriguez
Three units of communal housing explore how individuals across generations might live together. Located adjacent to RISD’s community garden in Providence, RI, the site is an opportunity to encourage interaction between the building’s residents, students, and pedestrians. The buildings bend around outdoor spaces with varying degrees of protection from and relation to the public. Straw bale construction and cork cladding reflect a shared goal of building a symbiotic relationship with nature.
